Why this site?

This website was launched on the 5 March 2005 to help popularise various rules and ranges I'm fond of, and hopefully to help others discovering or rediscovering the captivating world of wargaming with miniatures.

What's new

March 2011

I've started a blog at http://doctorphalanx.blogspot.com which will eventually replace this web.

February 2011

I haven't had much time for wargaming, modelling or maintaining this web in recent times but my interest has been renewed. My current activities are:

  • Converting the Crossfire 'Stalingrad' buildings to single-storey. The 'towering edifices' just didn't work. Putting the figures inside them was too fiddly. I also think that CF is essentially 2D not 3D and that keeps it more vanilla. I am also creating some more rough areas (rubble). The scenery is only half-finished, but here are some pictures of an actual game: [1] [2] [3] [4]
  • Investigating the possibility of doing the First Balkan War and the Chinese Warlord Era in 10mm using Square Bashing rules.
  • Investigating the possible use of PanzerGrenadier boardgame rules (with 4" hexes) for 10mm WW2 Normandy armies. The alternative will be Blitzkrieg Commander.
  • Painting my 10mm ACW armies.

Why "doctorphalanx" ?

The name was originally generated for me by an online game portal. It amused me so I adopted it.

Contact...

If you share my interests you'll come across me on TMP and in various Yahoo Groups through which you can contact me. As I already get hundreds of spam emails every day you'll appreciate that I don't like splashing my email address around.
